ALEJANDRO ARMANDO GONZALEZ CASTILLO, music documentation specialist and psychologist, holds a degree in Library Science (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México) and in Psychology (Universidad del Valle de México). He joined the Centro Nacional de Investigación y Documentación e Información Musical “Carlos Chávez” (CENIDIM) in 1989 where he has specialized in the development of reference tools. He was part of the team that developed the “Abstracts of Heterofonía”—a reference work that provides access to a thirty-year period of this publication’s run—and 70 años de música en el Palacio de Bellas Artes, an anthology that reproduces selected reviews of concerts from 1934 to 2004 at the Mexico’s main music theater. Among his articles are “Fuentes y documentos para la investigación musicological,” and “Las obras de consulta sobre música” published in Bibliomúsica, revista de documentación musical, and “Índice de los 30 años de Heterofonía,” published in Heterofonía. Currently Mr. González is developing a database to index information published in seven national newspapers dealing with the musical activities at the National Palace of Fine Arts. He also teaches at Universidad del Valle de México, San Rafael campus.
