SPANISH; COORDINATOR, RIPM-LATIN AMERICA
ESPERANZA BERROCAL holds a Ph.D. in Musicology (Catholic University of America) and a Piano Performance degree (Madrid Conservatory). As a specialist in Ibero-American music and a native Spanish speaker she has produced six volumes for RIPM treating: La Música Ilustrada Hispano-Americana; La Gaceta Musical Barcelonesa; Revista y Gaceta Musical; La Zarzuela and La España Artística. She is also the Coordinator of RIPM's Latin America initiative. Other scholarly interests include the history of piano, concert programming and opera. She has contributed articles to the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians and to Revista Resonancias (Universidad Católica de Chile). Her most recent publication is "Ricard Viñes a l'Amèrica del Sud: un capítol inèdit en la biographia del pianista," a chapter in the monograph Ricard Viñes. El pianista de les avantaguardes (Barcelona, 2007). She is a correspondent for the Barcelona-based magazine Ópera Actual and is an adjunct professor of musicology at Catholic University of America.
